Reading Update #11

Okay so it’s been well over a week since I last updated you all. This isn’t for lack of wanting to update you all…it’s due to an unfortunate lack of reading [insert crying book steff here]!! It’s been tough to get in any reading other than uni work which is a little soul destroying to say the least.

Books I have read

Since my wrap up…none!! Literally none!!! I’ve literally got no books in my may reads list right now! It’s heartbreaking lol.

Currently reading

I’ve gotten 20% of the way through The Gems of Eslana, and I picked up mythago wood but haven’t continued with it yet 😭😭! So…obviously I’m feeling hella sorry for myself!

Books I plan to read next

Any…throw my a bone here! I need to read something other than uni related reading otherwise I’m going to loose the plot lol.

What books have you read in the last week? What book are you currently enjoying? Or perhaps you can comment letting me know you are having a tough reading time to make me feel better? No? Just me…okay.

Reading Update #10

Hey Beautiful Booklovers! Another week and another reading update!

So I’ve been neglecting you all, and I must admit that sucks – don’t worry instagram has been neglected too if not more lol! Unborn baby has had me in and out of the hospital (he is running amok)!

Also I just want to say sorry for not posting an April TBR yet, but honestly with baby being due and with my horrendous case of mood reading, I haven’t been able to sort out a tbr (not one I will be able to stick to any way).

Anyway enough of that; let’s update you all on what I’ve read since I last posted!!

Books I’ve read

So, I’ve re-read Daughter of a Pirate King, and Daughter of a Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller, because after warrior of the wild I needed some Levenseller love!! I really enjoyed this duology again, such fun reads! Funny that I’m literally always moaning about not reading the unread books on my shelf yet feel the need to revisit others lol!

Also I managed to read Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers, and oh my gosh! Why did I wait so long for that! It was great! I may even do a review when I get the chance.

What I’m currently reading

So, narurally having read Grave Mercy and having them all on my shelves, I’ve picked up number two in the series – Dark Triumph. I am only a couple chapters in because…well baby chaos, but I honestly can’t wait to devour the rest of it! I can already tell I’m going to enjoy this one too!

Books to pick up next

Depending on how in love I am with Dark Triumph I may pick up Mortal Heart (book 3) next, but as I said last week – I’m still in a funky mood reader kind of mood and I honestly have no idea what I’ll want to read next lol!

Random tidbits

I’m currently not receiving any emails from my contact me page (this was brought to my attention by someone on my other social media accounts) so if you have contacted me for any reason please know I have not ignored it. I just haven’t recieved it, please bear with me as I try to sort this issue, and in the meantime feel free to contact me through dm on Twitter or Instagram. Given that I am about to have another baby I may not see it straight away, but will get back to you as soon as I can.

What have you been reading this past week? Anything to recommend? What about the books I mentioned above, have you read any of them yet? Are they on your tbr? Let me know in the comments below!

And I can’t say this enough right now, but thank you to all who have shown support and patience at this busy time in my life, I can’t wait to update you with the new addition to the Book Steff family, hopefully not long to go (else I might sign a damn eviction notice soon lol)! You are all amazing for sticking with me, so 100 times thank you for your support!

Reading Update #9

Hey Beautiful Booklovers! Another week, another reading update!

I am happy to announce I’ve read a few books since I last updated you all…2 of them have been very typically cheesy YA (which I had never heard of) but I feel like I needed that kind of blowout to get me back in my grove 😂😂!

Books I’ve read

So since my last update I have read A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan, which was a re-read for me, but I want to read book 2 this month so needed the recap.

My cheesy YA reads, well, I’m not even sure how I found them to be honest with you but sometimes I like to read something like this to help get my out of a little slump etc. The first was Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins and the second was the follow on novel Sweet Peril. If I’m honest I won’t be adding these reads to my goodreads or anything. They merely filled the task of getting me out if a slump, and I dont really have much else to say with regards to them.

Books I’m currently reading

I know last week I had picked up Ever the Huntedby Erin Summerill and I actually picked up Bitten by Kelley Armstrong too, but I haven’t gone any further with either of them…just because I haven’t been in the mood. I absolutely want to read them, and it is in no way the content that has made me feel this way – just my weird funky reading vibes at the moment 😂!

Anyway, moving on, I am looking to pick up Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence and make a start on that tonight, so hopefully I’ll be able to get through that this week.

Books I plan to pick up next

At this point with my reading preferences – who knows! Its all up in the bloody air right now 🙈😂! I haven’t even managed to put together a tbr for this month because of my indecisiveness [cries dramatically]!! I hate when I mood read 😂! What I do know is that I want to go to my unread shelves, so I’ll be having a hard look at them to decide my next reads!

Random tidbits

So as you may have guessed still no sign of baby, but hopefully he will come sooner rather than later 🤞! I’m very sore (due to chronic hip pain) which means concentration isn’t so great – which means unfortunately my social media is taking a bit of a hard hit 😭! I’m really hoping to be back on track soon 🤞💕. Also thank you to everyone who wished me well with baby – you are all so amazing 😘! I will of course let you know updates as they come.

What have you read recently? Are you in any funky reading moods/ slumps? How do you normally get out of them. As always I love hearing your thoughts and opinions so let me know in the comments below!

Reading Update #8

Hey Beautiful Booklovers! Another week and another reading update! I can’t believe a week has passed already, it just seems crazy to me! I feel like I haven’t gotten a lot of reading done since I last updated you all, but I have finished another book so that’s something I guess!

Books I have read since last update

So, in my last update I mentioned I was about 100 pages from finishing Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, and I did finish it that night so yay me! I know there are some of you who want to know my thoughts on this book so I plan on doing a review for it at some point – keep an eye out for that!

Another book I started and finished since my last update is Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. It’s roughly about 500 pages so that is why I haven’t gotten much else read this week, however I wasn’t as pleased with this book as I wanted to be, and while the writing was beautiful the book itself fell short in my opinion. Trust me when I say no one is more upset by this than me!

Books I am currently reading

I have tried again with Once and Future, but I honestly think it is the format letting me down at the moment. I just can’t seem to read anything on my kindle [crying hysterically be right back]. It is so frustrating because I love reading on kindle. It means I can read in bed without keeping the light on. It means I can carry it easily where ever I go, but no…clearly it isn’t working for me right now, and it’s heart breaking!

I have picked up Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill today, so literally am about 10 pages into it right now, but am excited about this story, as I have heard many good things! Let me know if you have read it and what your thoughts were.

Books I plan to read next

Same as last week, I generally want to read the arcs I have, but we shall have to see, because as I said e-copies aren’t doing so well on my tbr at the moment! If not then I will probably pick up something with a dragon in it to lift my spirits aha!

What are you reading at the moment? Have you read any that I have mentioned above? If yes, what were your thoughts? Also, how many of you want to see a full review for Red Queen, or are you happy for me to talk about it in my wrap up alone?

Reading Update #7

Hey Beautiful Booklovers!! Another week another, another reading update!

Sorry this one is coming at you so late in the day, but I’ve been suffering a bit with my chronic pain etc, so things haven’t gone swimmingly the last few days!

Anyway enough of that, lets get to it!

Books I have read since last update

You may remember I was having a tough reading week last week, and the week before but this past week has gone better thankfully. I’ve managed to read Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller and An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson.

Both were fairly short reads (300-350 pages) which I think really helped with my mini slump!

Books I am currently reading

I’m about 100 pages from finishing the red queen, maybe a little less than that which is good, and I’ll let you know my thoughts on it when it’s completed!

I honestly haven’t tried again with crown of feathers again, its not the book, I think it’s me on kindle at the moment. I’m not having any luck with any of my kindle reads, and that’s why I’ve only managed to finish physical copies this week. Not sure why I’m having this issue, quite frankly it’s a pain in the ass 😭😂! I Normally love reading on my kindle 😭!

Books I plan to read next

I want to finish crown of feathers and once and future but as both are on my kindle I’m not so sure it will be a success, I may pick up Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones next just because I’m in the mood for some faerie stories!

Random Tidbits

I have a review coming tomorrow for Warrior of the Wild so keep an eye out for that, I’m excited to talk about this book!

What are you currently reading? How has your past week been? Let me know in the comments as usual, you know I love hearing what you are all up to 😘!

Reading Update #6

Another week and another reading update! So, another week has gone by and guess what? I still have the damn cold! It is ridiculous! Damn my supressed immune system! However, despite me feeling like rubbish I do have some things to update you on…yay!

Also on a side note – my uni assignment is all sent off which means a small reprieve, and therefore…more time for reading!! Wohoo!

I have to confess I am suffering from the temptation to change up my tbr a little this month. I keep thinking I might swap out some reads and replace them with other, but I’m going to try to stick with it!…for now anyway!

Books I have Read

Since I last updated you all I have managed to pick up and finish The Extinction Trials by S M Wilson, and I have to say that I did enjoy this little story, it was very fun, and I was really in need of something short and fun.

Books I am Currently Reading

Yes, I am still trying to read Crown of Feathers this month, no I haven’t picked it back up [crying with face buried in hands]. I just can’t seem to want to get into this, which is annoying because I am only 10% into the story and know that if I keep going I will most likely end up enjoying it! To give myself a break from the stress of it, I have picked up Once and Future, and I’m really interested in the story so far – which is good news, and hopefully should finish it very soon, so that I can post a review for you all!

Books to Read Next

Obviously, I intend to get through Crown of Feathers, because…I NEED TO! lol, but after that I think I’ll go onto Red Queen (even though I am tempted to shake things up and read Scythe instead (send help I’m terrible)!

As you can see once again, not a lot going on this week, but hopefully once this bloody cold goes I will be able to get back up and running!

What are you reading this week? What have you really enjoyed reading recently? Any deviations from the tbr, or are you still sticking with it? Let me know in the comments below!

Reading Update #5

Hey Beautiful Booklovers! Another week and another reading update! Where does time go? I’m back to doing my reading update on a Wednesday, last week was a one off, because of how the cards fell etc.

Anyway, my reading this week is a little bit disappointing for a couple of reasons. 1 – that I am still ill and therefore feel like death warmed up. 2 – I have a tonne of Uni work to get through, which means my reading this week has involved history and art etc, rather than my beloved fiction books!

Books I have finished in the past week

So, I finished the gorgeous The Priory of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I intend to upload my review for this either tomorrow (which is my normal review day) or at the weekend as I have a couple I want to review this weekend. Either way, the beautiful beast of a book is finished, and I really loved it. You will definitely see the review this week, because I am so excited to chat about this book!

Books I am currently reading

I am still currently reading Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto, but haven’t managed to pick it up because of the above reasons. So far it is promising, but then again it is still very early days so I’ll let you know how I get on.

I am debating picking up an audio whilst I am still unable to get any physical reading done, but am still undecided on what to pick up.

So, as you can see not a whole lot to up date you on today, but things to take away – Priory was great and the review will be up soon, being ill sucks, and Uni is busy. Other than that nothing new to report.

What have you been reading this past week? What are you currently reading? Hopefully you have had more time to read than me. Let me know in the comments below.

Reading Update #4

Hey Booklovers! Firstly thank you all for your support yesterday with my post about how books helped me open up. I really appreciated how well it was received by you all, so thank you a hundred times! You are all awesome!

Secondly, my reading update is coming to you on a Tuesday instead of a Wednesday this week, and the reason for that is that I’m uploading my February book haul tomorrow instead – which I am so excited for!

Books I Have Read This Week

Since I last updated you I have managed to finish Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, and The Grey Bastards by Jonathon French. Both of which I really enjoyed! Strange the Dreamer – what was that! I am shooketh! As for The Grey Bastards, I loved it, and can’t wait until the second book comes out!

Books I am Currently Reading

I am currently about 280 pages into The Binding by Bridget Collins – which I am not sure how to feel about yet. I don’t really know what’s happening yet as far as plot goes anyway. Although, I am totally shipping the romance! Also I just started reading Crown of Feathers, though I am not far into it at the moment so I’ll need to let you all know how I get on with it as I progress.

Random Tidbits

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon releases today, and oh my gosh I am excited about it! I love dragons so much and am so hyped for this beast of a book!!

Also, there may or may not be a giveaway happening on my instagram tonight for this book (wink, wink)! So be sure to check that out people! You can find my bookstagram at @booksteff

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned above? What are you reading at the moment? And are you as hyped about The Priory of the Orange Tree as I am? Let me know in the comments below.

Reading Update #3

Hey Booklovers! Another week, and another reading update. Sadly it isn’t as impressive as my last couple of weeks I really haven’t achieved much, but you know…it’s half term and kids are crazy!

Since the last time I updated you, I have read one book! ONE! That’s all, which sucks, but as I said above it’s half term, and I have young kids. I am currently reading a couple as well so I guess it’s not all bad.

Books I’ve finished

So, like I said, I’ve only managed to finish one book since I last updated you all and that was Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor . I know I said last week I was going to read strange the dreamer, but I wanted to see what Daughter of Smoke and Bone was like before heading into Strange. I didn’t love Daughter of Smoke and Bone unfortunately; it was by no means bad, it just wasn’t something I particularly loved. In conclusion to that I have decided not to continue on with that series. Feel free to shout at me if you think I’m making a mistake!

Books I am currently reading

So, I mentioned last week I was going to read Strange the Dreamer, and I am currently about 130 pages into it, and I have to say I am enjoying it so far! I really love the writing it is just so beautiful, and I’m keen to see where Lazlo’s journey is going to take him.

I am also doing a buddy read with my friend over at – https://www.instagram.com/katsreadingcorner/?hl=en and we are currently reading The Grey Bastards by Jonathan French which, by the way, is great so far! And funny! Funnier than I thought it would be. I have been eyeballing this book for a while, so thought I’d give it a go.

Random Tidbits

On another note, I have been approved for two arcs on Netgalley; Crown of Feathers by Nick Pau Preto and Holly and Hazel by Sara C. Snider. Both sound great, and I can’t wait to read them, and share my thoughts with you all!

So, as you can see this week hasn’t been as productive on the reading front, but nevertheless at least I’m making some progress! How is your reading coming along this week? Have you read any of the books I mentioned above? Let me know in the comments below!

Reading Update #2

Another week, another reading update! It’s time for me to update all you book-lovers on how I am getting on with my TBR goals!

Keeping in mind my monthly TBR, I think I am doing fairly well for a change. Normally I completely go off on my own tangent, and barely read any of my planned monthly reads. This month…I’ve smash it!

Books I’ve managed to finish from my TBR

As you know from last weeks reading update I have already finished Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb, but since I last updated you all I have managed to read Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, Master of Sorrows by Justin Call, China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan, Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski, and Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson – which I will be posting a review for tomorrow (So stay tuned for that!).

Not on the TBR books I’ve finished

Today, as I am posting this I realise that I have completed my monthly TBR [gasps in shock!]. I have also managed to read In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire which is the fourth installment of novellas in the Wayward Children series. I love this series and since it’s so small couldn’t resist reading it!

What I’m planning to read next?

Since I don’t have anymore ‘structured reads’ this month I wanted to go onto some books that are sitting on my shelf and need some attention. I plan on reading Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor – which is a long overdue read! Also, I want to get around to The Binding by Bridget Collins, because I am super keen to devour this book.

Random Tidbits

I was planning on posting my review for Master of Sorrows tomorrow, but instead decided that I would post my review of Warbreaker. This is due to Master of Sorrows release date being next week, and I thought as tribute to its launch I would upload my review on the 21st Feb when the rest of the bookish community can finally get their hands on this fabulous book!

How are you getting on with your reading goals this week? Have you gone off script? Or are you being more diligent? Let me know in the comments below.
