Book Buying Ban!

Hey Beautiful Booklovers! So sorry I have been absent lately, it turns out third babies like to play games of false labour with you…how fun! But I’m back and baby is still cooking for now, but I will warn you that it could be any day now (so if I disappear for a bit you’ll know why)! Rest assured my March Wrap up and April tbr will be coming at you this week!

Anyway, enough of that, today’s post is all about my new rule – No more buying books!

Okay, so let me start by saying that this is long overdue for me! I have an impulse problem when it comes to purchasing books, and I’m finally putting my foot down! I buy more a month than I can physically get through, and that’s just stupid. I have decided that I need to behave myself and tackle the books I have on my shelves – which is too damn many!

So, for the foreseeable I will not be buying any new books, and clearly you don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to note I said NEW. Which means I am allowing myself the treat every now and then to purchase a pre-loved book if I manage to work through a load of my tbr! This is just an option – to be honest, I plan not to buy any, but knowing me I have to factor in the urge to buy lol!

I just think it’s time for me to get through my huge tbr and this at least ensures I’m checking off more than I’m bringing home. That being said, I will point out I have kindle unlimited, and may venture down that avenue occasionally too, but since I’m off kindle reading right now (yes, still) I don’t see that being a big issue.

Anyone want to join me on my good behaviour? We could struggle together lol?

How many books a month do you read? Are you terrible for book buying like me? Or are you a good booklover, and rarely buy new? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Good luck with the baby, sounds like you’re going to have your hands full very soon. ❤️ I hear you on the book ban. I really need to stop myself from buying any more books, too! My tbr list is ridiculously long enough as it is! 🙈

  2. Good luck with your little one and your book buying ban! I’ve already done that last month and it’s time for me to lift the ban up x) And yes to preloved books! I love them ♥ I use library often too and that also helps me with my book buying problem.

    1. Thank you!💕 pre-loved books are awesome, and generally I’m someone who doesn’t care if a books a bit tattered as long as I can still get into the story 😍

  3. I have considering doing this myself. I have 3 preorders coming this month and one sequel that is on its way. I am going to try to not pick up any others the rest of the month so I can chip away at my current TBR.

    1. My current physical tbr in the house is ridiculous! It most definitely needs whittling down, so by setting myself some restrictions hopefully I’ll get through what I already have…that’s the hope anyway 😂😂

  4. I don’t have a problem with buying books so much as ordering too many from the library LOL. I usually order 10+ at a time and I am a fairly fast reader….except I have approximately 60 books I actually own at home that I haven’t read yet. Oops.
I’ve been on a library ban for about a month (my boyfriend changed my library login LOL) and will continue to be until I read 80% of my unread books xD

  5. I have so many unread books on my shelves it’s unreal. :S I was doing really well at tackling my backlist and then, WHOOPS, I slipped the last couple of months and now I feel like I’ve undone all my hard work, LOL.

Good luck with your book buying ban! It’s a tough but very needed process!
